Park Commission Minutes 4/5/17
Monterey Parks Commission
April 5, 2017

Present: Kelly, Gary, Julio, Anjelica and Peter

Minutes from February were accepted as written. March meeting was cancelled  due to the lack of a quorum.

Board Business:
  • Gary will not be running for re-election to the Parks Commission.
  • Kelly is resigning from the committee. Julio will now become the Parks Commission Chair.
  • Kelly reviewed procedures for bills getting paid. She outlined the 3 Parks Commission accounts: 1- General Parks Commission Expenses; 2- Beach Expenses (Berkshire South Life Guards only); 3-Maintenance and Mowing.
Beach:
  • Porty –Potty: Julio to call Mt. Everett Sanitation: 1 Porta-Potty will be     
delivered to Greene Park by 4/15. 1- Large Handicapped Accessible for the beach by Memorial Day.
  • Mark M. has requested new rope and new buoys for the beach. Kelly to e-   
      mail Mark for details.
  • Parks Commission, Police, Fire and lifeguards will get beach emergency     
      training.
  • Kelly will e-mail Berkshire South to ask them to send us a contract for the    
      upcoming swim season.

Berkshire Fence:
  • Julio to call Berkshire Fence and schedule them to fix the gates at Jamie’s
      Court.

Garbage Pick-up
  • Kevin Fitzpatrick will pick up garbage at beach and ballfield.
Movie Night
  • Movie  Night will be Saturday August 5, 2017. The vendor should be booked    
      at least 2 months in advance.

Chair Yoga
  • The Parks Commission is currently paying for Connie Wilson to do a Chair
      Yoga program at a cost of $260 per month. The Community Center asked if     
      we would pay her to do a full yoga program at the community center. We do    
      not currently have that money in our budget.

Boats/Kayaks
  • There are currently 2 boats left at the dam, and 2 kayaks chained onto town  
      property at the beach. The Parks Commission has voted to have them  
      removed.  Julio has discussed this with the Police Chief. Sean T. will be asked
      if  the boats and kayaks can be stored at the Highway Department.
